FREE GUIDED WALKING TOUR OF THE SOUTH DORCHESTER HARBORWALK

By October 29, 2019 No Comments

The Friends of the Boston HarborWalk are delighted that Laurie Zapalac will lead us on a guided tour of the Neponset River Greenway (South Dorchester), one of the most beautiful sections of the Boston HarborWalk. All are welcome, but please only RSVP if you plan to come, as space is limited and we want to be able to contact you in case of inclement weather.

The tour will begin and end at the Milton (Red Line) MBTA Station.  Our tour will focus on the Lower Mills neighborhood of Dorchester, where the original Baker Chocolate Company was established in 1780, making it the oldest chocolatier in the United States.  The old Baker Chocolate Factory, now apartments, once used the Neponset River flow to power its manufacturing. We expect the tour to finish at around noon, just in time to enjoy nearby local restaurants for lunch.

The Friends of the Boston HarborWalk is a volunteer organization affiliated with The Boston Harbor Association. We meet monthly and work to promote and enhance Boston’s 47-mile HarborWalk.
