Reduce and Recover: Save Food for People is hosted by the Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinic, in collaboration with the EPA, MassDEP, and RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts.

This two-day event will convene entrepreneurs, practitioners, policymakers, and enthusiasts to further a public dialogue on reaching the EPA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s national food waste reduction goal of 50% by 2030. The conference will focus on the top two priorities in EPA’s Food Recovery Hierarchy: “source reduction” and “feed hungry people.” These initiatives to reduce food waste up front and make better use of our food to feed the hungry can make valuable contributions to Massachusetts goal of preventing disposal of food materials by 350,000 tons on an annual basis by 2020, while also helping to achieve important social and economic benefits from our food.  This conference will be an excellent opportunity to network and learn from local, regional, and national leaders on effective strategies to reduce wasted food and make better use of food to feed the hungry.

MassDEP and RecyclingWorks will be running a workshop within this conference on the morning of June 28. This workshop will connect businesses with food rescue organizations and food banks. This action-oriented workshop will take a practical, hands-on approach to building a food donation program. You can choose to register for the full conference and attend this workshop session as part of the conference. Or, if you want to attend this workshop only, you may register for this workshop only for a greatly reduced $25 registration fee. For more info on this session, contact RecyclingWorks at (888) 254-5525 or info@recyclingworksma.com.

Register before April 17, 2016 for our early bird rate. We're also offering scholarships to the conference for those who find the cost prohibitive; for more information on scholarships, email the Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinic.
