By now you’re probably familiar with the story of the time capsule found inside the lion on top of the Old State House. While the contents have been speculated and only recently revealed, the Bostonian Society is already in the process of creating a new time capsule to replace the old one–and they’re taking our suggestions!
Greenovate Boston is thrilled to announce that the Bostonian Society has invited us to suggest items to be submitted into the 2014 capsule, and we want to hear from you! There are some restrictions, for example; nothing like this. Also, all suggested items should be able to fit in the palm of your hand and capture the climate challenges/solutions that Boston is facing today.
The Old State House, with its iconic lion and unicorn, towers over the Common and provides guidance to lost tourists making their way down the Freedom Trail. Last month, both lion and unicorn were taken down for restoration, surrounded by a flurry of time capsule-related rumors. With the aid of a fiber optic camera, the sculptor in charge of restoration was able to confirm that the rumors were true, and extract it from the lion.
The statues are scheduled to be restored to their home atop the Old State House before Thanksgiving, so join us and tell us what you think belongs in the new time capsule.
