Greenovate Boston is making progress on the City’s Climate Ready Boston recommendations to prepare Boston for the impacts of climate change. This past spring, we trained almost 70 community members to hold conversations in their communities about what climate change impacts will mean for their own experiences and needs.

One of those leaders, Magdalena Ayed, was recently featured in the East Boston Times-Free Press. She outlines her participation in the program, and summarizes her experience this way:

CRB Leaders is an approach that resonates well in East Boston, where the population is diverse and peer-to-peer communication is effective in delivering important information. My East Boston neighbors range from Moroccan mothers and El Salvadorian construction workers to white collar professionals who live in the Eddy. Training people who can leverage existing knowledge and experiences – and speak the language of their peers — makes lots of sense.
