21-DAY RACIAL EQUITY HABIT BUILDING CHALLENGE

By October 30, 2019 No Comments

Food Solutions New England (FSNE) is committed to addressing structural racism in our food system. We believe that we cannot talk about and work for sustainability, food security, and economic prosperity in our region without facing the realities of discrimination and social inequity.

This is an exciting opportunity to dive deep into building racial equity habits.

For 21 days, we will commit to:

  • Learn about the ways in which race, social justice, and our food system are connected
  • Talk about challenging and important issues
  • Take action
  • Journal our reflections
  • Share in the daily discussion through an online forum

As part of a commitment to racial equity and food justice, Food Solutions New England (FSNE) is working to normalize the conversation about race and racism. We believe it benefits us all to have greater collective capacity to identify and address the different manifestations of racism (internalized, interpersonal, institutional, and structural).

This exercise, originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. and Debby Irving, is about creating dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of power, privilege, and leadership. Participation in an activity like the Racial Equity Challenge helps people learn how to engage the complex problems that exist in the food system, and become better leaders.
