CITY OF BOSTON DELEGATION IN PARIS FOR COP21

City of Boston representatives will be attending the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP21) in Paris from December 2nd — 7th. COP21 is set to create a global dialogue and a plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions with the intent to curb the worst effects of global climate change before it is too late. By sharing our experiences and best practices as a city working to reduce emissions while continuing to make Boston a thriving, healthy, and innovative city, our team and its networks can help to shape the negotiations.

The City of Boston delegation includes:

  • Austin Blackmon – Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space

  • Daniel Koh – Chief of Staff, Mayor Martin J. Walsh

  • Carl Spector – Commissioner, Environment Department

  • Brad Swing – Director, Energy Policy and Programs

As a city recognized for our sustainability and climate action efforts because our membership in the Compact of Mayors, our status as the most energy efficient city in the US, our nomination for a C40 award for our community engagement, as well as an example as a Cities100 Solution, we are ready to help others act on climate.

C40 Smart Cities & Smart Community Engagement award

Our team is especially excited to connect with other city leaders who are experiencing similar circumstances for implementing climate action solutions. The network of cities created by C40 allows City of Boston representatives to share best practices with other leaders, as well as learn from the experiences of other cities taking action from around the globe. We are honored to be nominated for a C40 Smart Cities & Smart Community Engagement award.
