Waste Management (NYSE: WM), in partnership with the Boston Red Sox and Aramark, will celebrate Earth Day 2017 with a post-game “Zero Waste” sort event at Fenway Park in Boston. The unprecedented event will follow the Red Sox’ traditional Patriots Day – Marathon Monday morning game on Monday, April 17. All trash collected inside Fenway Park after the game will be sorted to recover recyclables and food waste with a goal of recovering 80% of post-game waste for recycling and composting.

Handling the volume of waste generated by 40,000+ baseball fans and sorting it to capture recyclables requires teamwork – and volunteers! Waste Management, the Boston Red Sox and Aramark invite volunteers to join the effort and help make the 2017 post-game “Zero Waste” sort event successful. Volunteers will receive a new re-purposed t-shirt* with a limited one-of-a-kind Zero Waste Fenway design. Follow the conversation on Twitter #RecovRecyNow.

*These repurposed t-shirts are conserving 49,000 gallons of water, preventing the emissions of more than 245 pounds of carbon dioxide and eliminating the application of 23 pounds of pesticides used to grow cotton.
